A privately owned Dublin based firm has received the accolade of “Passenger Transport Company of the Year” at the 2013 Irish Logistics and Transport Awards. Swords Express operates a premium coach service from Swords to Dublin City Centre via the Port Tunnel.

Owned and operated by Eirebus Ltd, Swords Express has more than doubled its fleet size in the past twelve months and has shown an impressive increase in revenue and passenger numbers. The company owes its success to a customer centric approach that is not readily found elsewhere in the passenger transport industry and it is this approach that has gained Swords Express the prestigious “Passenger Transport Company of the Year” award, beating off stiff competition from industry leaders.

Paddy Kavanagh, Owner and Managing Director of Eirebus/Swords Express says: “In its six years of operation, Swords Express has shown robust growth and, in particular, the past twelve months have really seen the company flourish. We really pride ourselves on listening to our customers and we have made important changes to the operation as a direct result of valuable feedback received in 2012.  We know, and play to, our strengths and this is why we continue to grow. We are delighted with the progress we have made in the past year and we hope to continue this growth in 2013 and beyond.”

Now in its fourth year, the Irish Logistics and Transport Awards took place before a packed audience of Ireland’s logistics and transport professionals, with Richard Curran of RTÉ's Dragons Den presiding over the awards ceremony. Almost 400 industry professionals from all over Ireland were present to applaud the finalists across 17 categories.  The “Passenger Transport Company of the Year” award recognises the transport operator that has made real progress in the past twelve months.

Swords Express now operates 13 dedicated large coaches and employs 16 full time drivers on the route, which offers 90 daily departures between Swords and Dublin City Centre.  The company is owned and operated by Eirebus Ltd, one of Dublin’s largest privately owned coach operators, now in its 42nd year of business.  Eirebus owns and operates 40 coaches and employs over 80 people in Ireland, with subsidiary coach operations in Edinburgh and Southampton.  It is an ISO 9001:2008 approved company.
